Couple of animal sketches from a little bit back. Had these sitting on my desktop for a couple weeks and forgot to upload them.

As usual, I was digging around on tumblr for reference when I found some photos of animals I liked, and decided to use them as drawing practice.

It kinda amazes me that I’m willingly dedicating my time to a lot of this detail in my drawings lately, but it’s definitely helping my observation skills. Maybe I’m learning to be more patient? *shrugs*

I do recall the red panda drawing being the more annoying of the two to work out. I was really on a “no shading” kick, wanting to imply the value using hatching and things like that… but it just wasn’t working no matter what I did… so I compromised and did a bit of both, which seemed to be all the picture needed. Turned out OK, anyway.
